Guest Blog from Mickie Sherwood! Go International

Want more coverage for your newest release? New life for an older release? Try building interest with a blog tour–an international one.

Mickie Sherwood has a Christmas romance out! Her marketing efforts for this book include an INTERNATIONAL blog tour! I was curious about how one arranges such a tour and thought you might like to know how to do so as well. Mickie graciously agreed to share some “how-to” with all of us.

Joan: Can you define a blog tour?
Mickie:A blog tour is simply the best move an author can make. A blog tour expands the opportunity for exposure and sales. Imagine an INTERCONTINENTAL Blog Tour. Your tour travels between continents on the virtual platform. For example, North America to Europe. North America to Australia.

Joan:How do you make contacts for a blog tour—in general?
Mickie: Generally, I put out a call in the groups I frequent. I’ve never been disappointed with the responses I’ve received.

Joan:How did you go about expanding that to INTER-national exposure?
Mickie: The moment I realized a scheduled blog appearance was on another continent, the INTERCONTINENTAL Blog Tour was born.

Joan:What would you recommend to my readers as the five (or more)steps to take if they want to arrange an international blog tour?

Mickie: Here are my top ten tips.
1) Determine your overall goal.
2) Is the goal to increase sales, exposure, or both?
3) What method would you use to measure the success of your tour?
4) Determine what a successful tour would look like to you.
5) Contact authors and bloggers in your circles to see if any are willing to host you.
6) How much of your novel are you willing to share?
7) Whenever possible, plot the shared promo scenes to piggyback off the previous blog stop.
8) Be a responsible guest. Always check for visitor comments.
9) Share your stops on your blog, promo groups, and social media.
10) Have fun!

Joan:What do you see as the advantages of a blog tour–national and international!
Mickie:A blog tour (national, international, or intercontinental) provides the avenue for me to introduce myself to readers who are unfamiliar with my romances. I see the tour as a way for this introvert to interact with others as if she’s an extrovert.
Joan: So tell us a bit about your newest book.
Mickie: A blurb and my bio follow.

  1. Hi all,

It’s great to be here to share my tips on how I came up with the Intercontinental Blog Tour. I love sharing because it gives readers a taste of my writing style. My romances are relationship-based. Some are sweet. Others are sweetly sensual. All showcase “Louisiana Ladies who are unafraid of loving outside-of-the-box”.

I invite you to read and enjoy the first chapters at Readers, let me know what you think.

By the way, Christmas Crush is $0.99, marked down from $2.99 (Limited Time Offer).

Joan, thanks for this opportunity to mingle with your visitors.
